Syrian trumpet player Yamen Martini, bassist Otto Kint and accordionist Piet Maris meet somewhere between Brussels, Damascus and the port of Ostend.
Together, they create adventurous contemporary jazz, deeply rooted in SWANA influences but impossible to pin down to one place or genre. Intimate one moment, explosive the next.
The name 3’Ain refers to the Arabic letter ع — notoriously tricky for Western tongues and commonly written as “3” in Arabic chat.
Their acclaimed album Sea of Stories captures exactly what 3’Ain is about: three musicians, different backgrounds, one conversation — curious, borderless and unmistakably their own.
